A new year brings new challenges and ways to more trust the Lord.
On New Year’s Day when I changed the calendar on the fridge, I uncovered a familiar magnet. Once hidden by pictures, coupons and notes, it’s message stuck in my head and heart as if I read it for the first time.
Trust. A simple but powerful word. It is the belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc. We put trust in someone who is greater than us.
What better source of trust than the all-knowing God. When we can’t see through the darkness, His presence is with us. He sees the beginning and the end, the first days of the new year through the closing hours.
Why trust the all knowing God in the new year?
God sees the whole picture of history.
“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power ar this. He changes times an seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals the deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness and light dwells with him.” Daniel 2:20-22 NIV
God is aware of His creation.
“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. ” Hebrews 4:13 NIV
God is most powerful.
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7 NIV
Trust in God reminds us we are not alone.
“When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who knows my way.” Psalm 142:3 NIV
When we trust in God, we gain peace.
“He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3 NIV
We can rest in His strength.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.” Psalm 28:7 NIV
Whatever 2014 holds, rest in the sovereignty of God’s grace. Look to the Lord. He is SO trustworthy.
“Commit your future to the Lord!
Trust in him, and he will act on your behalf.” Psalm 37:5 NET
May you trust in the Lord for guidance, peace and comfort.
