Perfect love came a a gift through the child in the manger. God gave the purest gift to us, but many do not receive the gift.
Who doesn’t love to get gifts at Christmas? What is motive for giving the gifts?
Sometimes we give gifts because we think we have to give, like at an obligatory Christmas party. We give to make an impression of being thoughtful or generous.
Gifts given from the heart are the best gifts of all. We choose gifts for those we love. We also show love by helping those less fortunate through giving through organizations like Operation Christmas Child.
What makes a gift from the heart?
The gift from the heart is an appropriate for the receiver, something thought out by the giver. The gift is given with a special touch of affection, often handmade.
God gave the gift of perfect love at Christmas, straight from His heart.
God gave us Jesus, who left heaven and became like us, born in a humble manger with plain wrapping. He sent us this gift because we need a Savior to reunite us with him. He sent Jesus from His heart, created as one of us, to redeem our heart from the darkness of sin. All because of unconditional grace.
God’s motivation was pure, that we might have life through him. The gift was given not out of obligation. It was perfect love—totally selfless, given for our benefit to gain relationship with him.
We cannot earn it and don’t deserve the gift. But He loves us and gives his Son in spite of us.
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1John 4:10 NIV
When perfect love was born, the world changed.
Have you received it?
