The hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth” was in my mind during my morning walk. What an appropriate song on Earth Day!
Earth Day is a good reminder to take care of the planet, but it is also a time to give grateful praise to the Creator for the world.
As you go about your day, look around to notice the creative beauty–the tiny new leaves on maples, the blossoms on redbuds, the tulips, and the shades of blue in the sky. Also notice the blessings of family and friends that love you. These are gifts from God.
Then take a moment to offer a simple prayer of praise to God:
“For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies: Lord of all to Thee we raise, this our hymn of joyful praise.”
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.” Psalm 8:1
May the Lord bless you with a song of praise in your heart!
