When was the last time you considered the powerful love of God?
This love is simple enough to sing in a child’s song, yet powerful enough to draw us to relationship with the God of Creation. The sacrificing love of God shown through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus demonstrates what God did to redeem us, His creation.
God’s love lavish, drenching, perpetual, and abundant.
Our summer travels took us to Niagara Falls. Standing across from the panoramic view of the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls, I felt mesmerized by the majesty.
We walked along across from the Falls and felt the cooling mist. It was gentle and refreshing on the hot, summer day.
The next morning we strolled by the same place, but the wind had shifted and the mist became like a rainstorm in our direction!
We unsuspectedly got drenched and found a protected warm, sunny spot to dry out.
On various tours we viewed the Falls from above, beside, behind, and under.
The tour company provided plastic ponchos to keep us (sort of) dry.

I felt the power standing next to the Falls—heard the thundering roar of the rushing water, felt the forceful vibration on the walkways, and the soaking heavy mist in the middle of the Falls on a boat ride.
The whitewater flow over the Falls was powerful and unending and has been flowing forever.
The majesty of creation and the depth of God’s love for me led my heart to praise God
God’s love is lavish and unending.
1 John 3:1 describes God’s love this way:
See what great love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are!
This is agape love from God which is selfless and unconditional. It is not given in tiny proportions like a drip, but is given extravagantly with exceeding generosity, like the grand flow of Niagara Falls.

The love of God drenches our souls when we draw near to Him.
In Romans 8:38-39 God’s love is described it as inseparable.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing can divide us from God’s love.
Even when were stubborn, God’s love reaches us right where we are, with all our faults, doubts, and questions.
Jeremiah 31:3 NIV says,
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

God’s love is perpetual, because His mercies that are new every morning.
In Lamentations 3:22-23 we read these comforting words about God’s love.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
God’s love gives us hope each new day because God is faithful.
He is the author of second chances and “do overs.”

God’s love is abundant and endless.
Notice the descriptions of God in this verse:
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15 NIV
Abounding indicates God’s love is more than enough. Abundant. Continual.

The love of God is lavish, drenching, perpetual, and abundant.
Our words fall short to fully describe the majesty of God’s love.
The powerful love of God reaches each of us.
When we take time to ponder the depth of His love for us, we have to make a choice.
Will we accept this love that brings us back into relationship with God or reject it?
