Hot? Dry? Thirsty?
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
The New International Version. 2011 (Ps 1:1–3). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.
The Word of God provides our spiritual nourishment, as water does for our bodies. Frequently water is symbolic of God’s blessing and spiritual refreshment. Longing for it indicates spiritual need.
Jesus referred to Himself as the living water in John 7:37,38
“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
On these hot days of summer, open the Word of God and take a cool drink from the source of living water.
