Transitions abound during this time of year.
- The summer routine is over as the school year begins. Bedtimes become more regular.
- Kids are in different classrooms with new teachers.
- Students go to college, some for the first time on their own leaving concerned parents behind.
- Some families move from one location to another, from one state or country to another to begin a new job.
Some transitions are small, while some are major. Either way, they impact life. It can be overwhelming to adjust to the changes and the accompanying fear, uncertainty and worry.
In all the transitions of life, God sees you. He is unchangeable, steadfast and faithful.
One of the names of God in the Old Testament is “the God who sees me” in Genesis 16:13. That name was spoken by a scared person (Hagar) facing life change. It is comforting to know that God sees us in the changes.
Here are some Bible verses to help you navigate transition:
“O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit an when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.” Psalm 139:1
“I the Lord do not change.” Malachi 3:6
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
“May the God of all hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard you hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James1:17
Whatever changes you a facing right now, remember God is steadfast and never changes. Rest in the sovereignty of God when transitions abound.
