Heart Transformation: Heart Condition Pt 2

Ezekiel verse heart transformation

Heart transformation occurs in many unlikely people.

A retired couple I knew years ago complained about everything, not helping anyone unless asked. He was especially grumpy, until he had a true heart transformation. And then she did, too. The change was noticeable to everyone in the community. Both of them had new joy and love, wanting to serve others with a smile.

What happened?

They both accepted the transforming power of the gospel in their lives.

We come to the Lord with our imperfections and sin. The holy creator of the universe does not remain far off, but reaches out to us.

Heart transformation is when the Redeemer God exchanges our old heart of stone and replaces it with a heart of flesh with new hope and radiance.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Ezekiel 36:26

After we accept the “new heart” from the Redeemer, our H.E.A.R.T is one that is:

  • Humbled by His forgiveness. He does give us another chance. Gratitude to God leads to a humble heart. Grateful to be forgiven, loved and accepted. Grateful for all He has done.
  • Embraced by His love. It’s hard for us to comprehend the depth of His love for us, that God would send His Son to live on this earth and die to bring us back into relationship with Him. The simple song “Jesus Loves Me” is a strong theological truth for all ages.
  • Awakened to His Glorious Power. We are empowered by the Holy Sprit with a new boldness. The Resurrection power that raised Christ from the grave is available to us. In Ephesians 3:20 we read: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurable more that all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” It is His power, not ours. We cannot live the Christian life on our own.
  • Renewed by His Spirit. When we are weak, He refreshes us by His Spirit restoring perspective. When we are discouraged His word gives us hope. His Spirit renews us. Hope in the Lord is  a renewable  resource. 2 Corinthians 4:16 has this encouragement:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

  • Transformed through the grace of God in Jesus Christ, not through anything we have done.

The transformation happens from the inside out, beginning in the heart and spreading through to the thought life and emotions. This is the how grace works in becoming a new creation.

‘True, life-transforming faith in God and relationship with Him is based not on a whisper, but a shout—the shout of God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, in His work on the cross as revealed in the supernatural revelation of the Bible.’ Colonel Jeffrey N. Williams, The Work of His Hands, p. 149-153.

The beginning of heart transformation occurs when the hopeless human heart is exchanged for the new heart offered by God.

Are you ready for a heart transformation?
