Abiding in Christ and The Grace Impact
The tiny leaf in the middle of the photo illustrates the word “abide.”
It is new growth, protected by larger leaves. The smaller one shares the same source of nourishment for life. But if plucked from the tree, the leaf could not reach the mature size of the larger leaves to form shade. It would die.
The leaf has to abide–to remain or continue–on the branch for life.
So it is with us.

Abiding is a life-long process of nurturing faith through seeking and worshipping God. This develops through prayer and meditating on the Word of God. Abiding in Christ involves a rhythm of resting in God’s presence and persevering in faith when life is hard. Through grace, God allows us to draw near to Him.
Grace is the footing upon which God calls us to build in faith. — Dr. Jack Hayford
Throughout the Word of God are verses about abiding in Christ, strengthening the foundation of our faith.
Here are a few:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
“Remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands & remain in his love.” John 15: 9-10
“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Psalm 73:28
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 NLT
“Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29 NLT
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and full assurance of faith.” Hebrews 10:22
“Come near to God and He will come near to you.” James 4:8
Abiding in Christ is a theme in my new release, The Grace Impact.
May you seek the Lord and draw near to Him, abiding in Christ.
